Change occurs when one becomes what he is, not when he tries to become what he is not.”                                                                             Arnold Beisser

As a Gestalt Psychotherapist, I offer a safe, relational and personalised approach to supporting women who may be experiencing any or several of the following:

  • symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma

  • relationship distress

  • parenting challenges

  • grief and loss

  • life transitions (eg. job loss, new baby, retirement)

  • chronic health conditions such as fatigue and eating disorders

  • isolation, stuckness or overwhelm

  • desire for personal growth and development

I am committed to working with you through ups and downs; exploring with you any opportunities and challenges; and walking with you on a path towards awareness, change and empowerment.

What is Gestalt Therapy?

Gestalt Therapy is a holistic, relational form of psychotherapy focusing on a person’s experience in the present moment, allowing for awareness of self and the way one interacts with others and within their environment.

Working with both mind and body, Gestalt offers an integrated and effective approach to processing old and underlying traumas, emotions and narratives that are impeding and impacting one's life.

Gestalt restores a sense of ḧealing and wholeness within by facilitating a deep level of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and lasting growth and change.

How will it help me?

The Gestalt process helps you to access internal wisdom and resources already within you that you have acquired through travelling your own unique journey in the world - but have been clouded by critical judgments, negative thinking and habitual patterns.

Together we will explore how you relate to yourself, to others, and to your environment. Through this active and authentic way of relating, we come to understand who you are and what and how you feel, do, think and move in the here and now (experience) - rather than what was, might be, could be, or should be (story).

This newfound awareness presents you with choices in how you respond to life moving forward and with that choice becomes change as you begin to experience reintegration of various parts of self that we all as humans often keep hidden out of either shame, guilt, fear or anxiety.

This is a safe, gentle and supported process in expressing yourself more fully, in all your shades, opening you up to deep, lasting personal growth and change.

The result of Gestalt Therapy is a restored sense of wholeness and a coming home to yourself.

What is the process ?

We begin by exploring what is going on for you right now and what you seek from the therapy.

Through curiosity and compassion, I will hold a safe space where together we identify beliefs, patterns and behaviours that may have supported you earlier in your life, but are no longer serving you in the present.

This greater self-awareness opens up possibilities to make conscious choices about how you show up in your life, cultivating satisfying and sustainable change.

We will reflect and review regularly on our progress to ensure desired outcomes are being fulfilled and to attune to anything that needs to shift based on your newfound self-awareness and growth.

As we journey towards the end of our work together, it is encouraged to have a few final sessions dedicated to forming a healthy closure between us, a rarity in our culture today.
